The slide is tight to the frame and the safety can be used to lock the slide back for cleaning. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition. The markings on the frame and at the front left of the slide are crisp, but those towards the back left of the slide are clear but not as crisp – probably from being polished to remove the erosion. The markings on the slide are clear but not as crisp as those on the frame. The edges of the slide serrations have been ground flat and show tool marks in places. There are dings in the underside of the frame and the trigger guard, with a few in the backstrap, with light handling marks scattered over the rest of the surfaces. There are spots of light pinprick surface erosion scattered over the slide and the sides and front underside of the frame. Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 55% of its metal finish. There are a few spots of light erosion in the grooves near the muzzle. The grips rate in about Good to Very Good condition.įinish Originality: There are no signs that the pistol was ever re-finished.īore Condition: The bore is mostly bright, tending to gray at the muzzle. There are also a few dings in the bottom edges of the grips. There are several mars in the checkering of the right grip and a ding in the bottom edge of the left grip from the lanyard ring. The checkering shows moderate to heavy wear that is worn smooth along the top and bottom edges of the grips. The bottom rear corner of the left grip is cut-out for a lanyard ring. Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered walnut that are dark with oil staining. The rear sight is a “V” notch dovetailed into the top of the slide. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a rounded blade fixed to the slide. ![]() ![]() The underside rear of the slide is marked “338”. The bottom of the grip on each side of the magazine release is marked with a five-pointed star – the acceptance mark of the French Army. The left side of the frame is also marked “35829”, and the left rear with “BH” in a circle. Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “7 65 1914 MODEL AUTOMATIC PISTOL / BEISTEGUI HERMANOS, EIBAR (ESPANA) / 35829”” and with “BH”, the French code for Beistegui Hermanos.
